Nestled beside a beautiful English garden and an enchanting 18-acre lake, The Loeb Boathousein Central Park is a truly magical, not to mention classic, New York venue. It is therefore such a treat each time Ovando is approached to design a wedding in this space!
A recent client came to us with the request that her floral designs complement the classic look of the venue but also incorporate modern accents which would reflect her personal style. We had just the thing in mind.
Ovando chose to work with tall lush arrangements and mixed textures which imparted richly elegant undertones. White roses, hydrangea and gerber daises came together to create a romantic and feminine feel, and varied textures were equally dispersed to pay homage to the traditional mixed bouquet.
Ovando’s design team then accented the arrangement with red roses to achieve stark color contrast and, ultimately, a modern finish. The tapered glass vase was poised at nearly four feet tall and embellished with calla lilies looped within. Graceful yet bold, the arrangement embraced the best of contemporary elegance.
To translate this aesthetic over to the bridal bouquet, our designers suggested the bride stay with red roses and deep pink callas, blended together for a decidedly chic look. Artfully combined with Italian ruscus and cascading calla lilies, however, the bouquet began to take on a more classically feminine voice. And upon seeing the big smile on our bride’s face, we knew that the bouquet was just what she had hoped for!
A big thanks to Sarah Merians Photography for capturing Ovando’s floral designs so beautifully and to the Central Park Boathouse for beauty that continues to inspire us!
